What's Next After FIre Deparment Leaves

One of the most commonly asked questions to us regarding fires is "What should we do when the fire department leaves before you guys get here"? The answer to that is nothing. Do not do anything in-between the time of the fire department leaves and we get there. If you attempt to clean anything whether it be knocking debris off furniture or attempting to get the soot off of clothes, furniture, electronics, it could do more damage. Without the proper equipment, soot can and will stay on anything it touches and that fire smell will stick with it. The only thing we would recommend doing is contacting your insurance to get that process going, other than that wait for SERVPRO of Boone & Clinton Counties to arrive.
